Episodes -  Pilot

This is the original Pilot for the new Bionic Woman series. The Pilot was 'leaked' onto the internet in the Summer of 2007 and a specially edited 30-minute version was shown at the San Diego Comic Con, as part of a BW panel.

The original Pilot is diffferent to the final aired version in that Rebecca, Jaime's sister, was portrayed by Mae Whitman and the character was deaf. News filtered out in late June that the network was not pleased with the character following negative feedback from hearing-impaired viewers and it is was suggested that rather than alienate another community they were going to re-cast. It was announced in mid-July that 'Becca had been re-cast with Lucy Hale now taking the role. Whilst it is not unusual for new shows to re-cast some, or even all, or their cast, following feedback or test-viewings, this was done after footage featuring Mae in the role had already turned on the official NBC site as well as various publicity images released.

The original Pilot, co-starring Mae, remains unaired and was not included on the Bionic Woman Season 1 DVD release as many hoped it would be. Essentially the plot, action and pacing of both Whitman's and Hale's versions of the Pilot remain the same, with just the scenes featuring 'Becca re-shot. Copies of the Mae-featured Pilot remain available via eBay as the pre-release DVD screener.

Below we have screenshot comparisons of the different sister's scenes, other than that the Pilot's remain the same save for some improved SFX shot in the aired version.

As details of the Pilot 'leaked' out, during the Spring and Summer of 2007, various assumptions, spoilers and speculation were made. We tracked these throughout there progression and you can read them here. We have noted where information was changed, or amended, as the show got nearer to it's air date.
